There are Four Relationship Seasons that every couple cycles through:

Coping ~ Coasting ~ Connected ~ Confident

It’s an ever flowing experience; sometimes you’re in the Confident Season and then life happens (like a change in work or a new baby), and it puts you into the Coping Season. It’s normal! And, now you’ll have the tools to be supported through each season.

How did the Relationship Seasons come to life?

Over my years working in private practice, I noticed that every couple (including me!) judges themselves harshly when things feel challenging in the relationship.

I thought: “How can I create language to normalize the natural ebbs & flows of being in relationship?”

This is why I created the Four Relationship Seasons; to take away the judgment, allowing couples to recognize that everyone goes through highs and lows.

Once you know your “season” it’s easier for you to progress efficiently & have aligned expectations of the relationship.

When you take the free quiz, you’ll learn your season, as well as the specific actions to best support your couple in your season.

Learning where you are and how to move in and out of the seasons is truly a gift to your relationship.

Let’s get you on the path to empowerment!

Big Love,

Allison

My Story

TWENTIES

As a professional in the performing arts, my life was a mélange of excitement and opportunity, blended with the reality of hurdles and rejection. From singing on cruise ships in the Caribbean, to countless unbooked auditions in Toronto, to touring Grease: The Musical in Japan, to waiting tables at the SkyDome, to discovering the beauty of burlesque with Les Coquettes…life was an emotional rollercoaster!

 DISCOVERING SELF-CARE

With the challenges of life as a performer, I found strength in understanding my inner world with the guidance of a therapist. This was the beginning of my commitment to self-care, a consistent practice that eventually led to pursuing a formal education in psychotherapy.

THIRTIES

While completing my training as a psychotherapist, I was also finding my flow as a mother. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, our first daughter was born. Becoming a parent challenged me - and my marriage - more than I could have every anticipated.

BREAKDOWN TO BREAKTHROUGH

When our second daughter was born, I entered the most difficult chapter of my life. As a recovering perfectionist, I could no longer maintain my unreachable expectations, and this sobering reality led me down the path of postpartum depression. My healing journey brought to light many big life questions, including questioning my marriage. As a couple, communicating through this challenge resulted in massive personal growth, a move to Mexico (and later - to the countryside!), and most importantly, a deeper connection with my husband, and with our kids.

FORTIES

This is the decade where I have found gentleness towards myself and the ongoing learning of being human. I continue to work with my own therapist - a relationship that has brought me consistency and support over the past 20 years. This nourishing self-care practice keeps me connected to the inner musings of my own personal growth.

PERSPECTIVE

Having sat in both seats; as a therapist AND as a client; as a mother AND as a wife; I can truly empathize with the process, while providing a safe container for my clients and students. No matter where you sit, the experience is guaranteed to be messy, humbling, and rewarding.

It brings me great purpose to empower other parents towards keeping their couple thriving. This work is such a privilege and the people who I have met along this journey inspire me, every day.

Parents are the true change-makers of the world.

How you love each other today, will live on in generations to come.

Big Love, Allison

Manifesto

Our lives are full of relationships, whether it is with a romantic partner, our children, friends, and even ourselves. We move through our days connecting to people and experiencing shifts within those relationships and sometimes a little catered love and support is needed.

I am here to help you connect to your romantic relationships in a deeper more intentional way, and also give you unwavering permission to explore a relationship with yourself.

I focus quite deeply on guiding parents in their romantic relationships, and finding honest connection there. Society has depicted “love” as the end all, be all, and that can be disheartening sometimes when our relationships naturally go through a more disconnected shift. One of the biggest shifts ever is introducing children into the dynamic, and I don’t ever want you to feel alone in that journey.

I want to be the place you go to, to see what real relationships look like, to share the hard times, and learn valuable communication tools that you can use to move through the different seasons of a relationship, with intentional understanding of yourself and your partner.
